Singapore Asked to Imitate Indonesian National Team to Recruit South Korean Coach

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Legend Singapore national team R. Sasikumar advised the Singapore Football Federation (FAS) to recruit a South Korean coach following in his footsteps Indonesian National team which made Shin Tae Yong a coach.

The Singapore national team now does not have a coach after Tatsuma Yoshida decided to resign, Tuesday (28/12), three days after being defeated by Indonesia in the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals.

Not looking for a new coach, FAS also had to find a new technical director after Joe Palatsides also decided to resign.

Sasikumar said Yoshida and Palatsides’ decision to withdraw was not a big deal. Singapore’s goalscorer when they won the 1998 AFF Cup, FAS only needed to make the right decisions for the Lions.

“There is no coach and technical director bigger than the organization of football. We have two key positions to fill, and what we are going to do will show how serious we are,” said Sasikumar, quoted from The Straits Times.

Sasikumar then advised FAS to recruit a coach from South Korea to coach the Singapore national team. Sasikumar nominate Kim Do Hoon who is currently coaching Lion City Sailors.

Indonesia has a coach who has coached at the World Cup through Shin Tae Yong, and clubs in the Singapore Premier League, Lion City Sailors club have coaches who won the Asian Champions League through Kim Do Hoon,” said Sasikumar.

“Let’s think big, recruit the best people for this job and pay them the money they deserve,” Sasikumar said.

Kim Do Hoon is a former teammate of Shin Tae Yong in Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma. Kim Do Hoon brought Ulsan Hyundai to win the 2020 Asian Champions League.
