With the premiere of Agneta Krilova’s symphony “To the New World” and the performance of Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov last weekend concert season opened State Chamber Orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga” conducted by Normunds Šnē. –
“We played with inspiration, and we saw a lot of ideas in this music, and nowadays to write a 40-minute symphony, it’s really an unusual moment, an unusual feeling to premiere it,” says Schnee about Agnet Krilova’s symphony.
The composer herself admits: “I am very satisfied. In my opinion, a very emotional, very fulfilled, very meaningful interpretation came together today. And that is the most important thing in music and art, in my opinion.”
The second part of the concert was dedicated to the work of the great spirits of the Vienna School of Classicism – Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven. Haydn’s 28th Symphony was performed at the concert. And Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto, performed by the Uzbek pianist and winner of the London International Piano Competition, Behzod Abduraimov. It caused a storm of public applause.
Normunds Šņē speaks cautiously about the orchestra’s season plans, but hopes not to stop performing and expect brilliant foreign soloists and guest conductors to perform in Latvia.
