Sinead O’Connor Death: Autopsy Confirms Singer Died from Natural Causes at Age 56

CelebritiesIrish singer Sinéad O’Connor died last summer at the age of 56 from natural causes. This is evident from the autopsy and a spokesperson for the singer said.

Sinéad O’Conner died on Wednesday, July 26, at the age of 56. The ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer was found unconscious at her London home and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police. The police announced at the time that there were no suspicious circumstances involved, but only now has it been confirmed that the singer died of natural causes.

The singer of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ leaves behind two sons and a daughter: Jake (36), Roisin (28) and Yeshua (17). A year and a half ago, in January 2022, her 17-year-old son Shane committed suicide after escaping from the facility where he was being treated for mental problems. The loss of her son was a very heavy blow. “I have decided to follow my son. There’s no point in living without him,” O’Connor tweeted a day after she lost her son. The singer was admitted to hospital after that tweet.

In 2007, O’Connor said on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ that she had previously considered attempting suicide, telling Winfrey that she suffered from bipolar disorder. However, the singer later denied that diagnosis. In 2017, O’Connor was a guest of Dr. Phil, where she again spoke about her feelings, but also about her suicidality. This, she said, was a result of her hysterectomy, a surgical procedure in which she had her uterus removed.

On July 17, 2023, a few days before her death, she shared another emotional message on X, the former Twitter: “Since his death, I have been living as an undead being. He was the love of my life, the light of my soul. We were two souls in one body. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost without him.”
