Sindre Finnes has kept a low profile and made few statements, after it became known that he had traded shares while Erna Solberg was prime minister. Now he has stood up for the bourgeois newspaper Minervai podkasten Tojes Time.
In the interview with Asle Toje, the two talk almost exclusively about the situation for Norwegian and European industry, and the challenges there compared to the rest of the world. Finnes is employed as head of department at the NHO association Norsk Industri.
In conclusion, he still gets some questions about how 2023 has been for him.
– 2023 was a rough year, says Finnes in the podcast.

A year for selective stock picking
When asked if he considered getting “a post abroad and closing the door” when it was “winding at its worst”, Finnes replies that he thought of that.
Finnes receives no direct questions about his own share trading during the hour-long podcast episode.
E24 has sent an inquiry to Sindre Finnes and asked for a comment on the matter, but has not received a reply.
– A number of pictures have been taken
Sindre Finnes has largely stayed away from the public after the share case became known. He has primarily made statements through his lawyers.
To Toje, Finnes points out that he has appeared a bit on public occasions, such as the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize and certain conferences.
– Then a number of photos were taken of me that had not been taken a year earlier, so to speak.

He also denies that there will be any new biography from him. There have been in the past wrote the book By Erna’s side.
– No, I doubt that.
Apart from this, Finnes is asked about a number of topics related to Norwegian industry, including nuclear power. Among other things, he is asked what he thinks about Ola Borten Moe’s plan, about Norway investing in nuclear power in Sweden.
– No, if I answer that question, the wife will get mad, so I won’t answer it.
Borten Moe resigned as minister and Center Party deputy leader last summer, after breaking the ethics regulations by buying shares in Kongsberg Gruppen.
– Ola Borten Moe is a nice guy, but I have no intention of discussing politics with him, says Finnes in the podcast.
End of share trading
Last autumn, E24 wrote a number of cases about Sindre Finnes’ trading in shares and financial instruments during the period when his wife was prime minister.
Erna Solberg presented the scope in mid-September. Then the leader of the Conservative Party said that her husband had acted far more than she was aware of, and that he tried to hide it both from her and the outside world.
Økokrim concluded in November that there should be no investigation into whether Finnes has engaged in insider trading.
Later that month, Finnes said that he would stop trading shares, and sell off what he owns of shares and financial instruments by the end of 2024.
