Since September, Ukraine urgently wanted the armored personnel carriers – 2024-02-28 16:44:20

Ukraine has been insisting on the APCs since September

Since September, Ukraine has been insisting on the maximum urgent removal of the APCs. This was stated by the chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense Hristo Gadjev (GERB-SDS). His words were on the occasion of the hearing in the commission of the Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev. The minister was heard about the military aid provided to Ukraine.

It is possible that the issue with the armored personnel carriers will be resolved in March, it became clear from Gadjev’s words. He expressed dissatisfaction with the minister’s answers. According to him, “Ukraine does not have time to wait for the Bulgarian officials to become “officials”. We want to see a clear schedule of what and how will happen from now on, said the deputy. The June military aid package for Ukraine is yet to leave, he added.

It took more than three weeks to transport the APCs from various locations to a place where it was convenient to load them onto rail transport, Todor Tagarev said during his hearing. There is now a clear schedule by days when there will be train compositions, he added.

Ukraine has no time to wait for us to play officials. One of the main tasks for which the government was formed is aid to Ukraine, commented Gadjev.

“You won’t go to bed until it happens, not get along every week to gather for operatives and drink coffee,” said the deputy.

Gadjev noted that not only the shipment of the APCs was delayed. Parliament completes everything within days and from then on we wait months for the executive to do its job, he said.
Regarding the rotation of the prime minister’s position, Hristo Gadjev said that it is not clear whether there will be one.

Earlier today, the Minister of Defense was attacked by GERB and DPS for not having done anything in support of Ukraine, and among the main criticisms was a delay in the provision of Bulgarian armored personnel carriers to Kiev. Leaders of both parties were adamant that he would be replaced in the rotation.

In turn, the Minister of Defense gave a report to the deputies from the competent parliamentary committee to what extent the decisions of the National Assembly on providing military aid to Ukraine have been implemented and announced that he is working to provide additional aid to Ukraine.

According to him, until now Bulgaria is one of the countries that supplies Ukraine with proportionally the most aid. “We have provided more than 7,000 tons of material resources, mainly ammunition. We have provided tens of thousands of large caliber ammunition, millions of rounds and many other things to Ukraine. And we will continue to do this according to our capabilities,” the minister commented to journalists.
