Misiones will begin to apply the bivariate vaccine in Primary Care Centers and Hospitals starting this Monday, January 30, with the aim of continuing to advance the strategic COVID 19 vaccination plan in the province.
This week the Ministry of Public Health received the first 25,920 bivariate doses that will be applied as boosters (3, 4 or 5 doses) from the 12-year-old population. It will not be applied as the start of vaccination schemes (1 dose).
It is important to clarify that for a time the two types of doses available in the Province (monovalent and bivalent or bivariate) will coexist in vaccinations, so the vaccine that is available will be administered.
The Pfizer Bivariate vaccine, as its name indicates, contains two variants, the original from Wuhan (also called ancestral) and the original Omicron and its sublineage. Which was authorized for use in the general population of 12 years or older.
Scientific evidence has shown that the booster application strategy is essential to maintain antibody levels and their effectiveness over time, especially in terms of avoiding hospitalizations, complications, and deaths from the disease. For this reason, the importance of reinforcing protection in people over 50 years of age and other age groups with risk conditions is also emphasized.
Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign against COVID 19 from December 29, 2021 to date, 2,262,631 doses have been applied, between primary schemes and reinforcements. In the same period, 981,158 first doses, 826,741 second doses and 454,732 doses between additional doses and reinforcements have been applied.
