Since its foundation, Israel has captured 85 percent of the land of Palestine

RAMALLAH – Israel, since its founding as a Jewish state in 1948, has captured 85 percent of Palestinian land in the West Bank.

This data was announced by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) on the 45th anniversary of Palestine Land Day, yesterday (30/3/2021).

Palestinian Land Day commemorates the killing of six Palestinians by Israeli forces in 1976 while demonstrating against the seizure of their land in the northern Israeli region of Galilee.

According to the PCBS, Jews controlled only 6.2% of the land in Palestine under the British mandate (1920-1948).

“Israel now controls about 27,000 cubic meters of land, accounting for 85% of Palestinian history,” PCBS was quoted as saying Anadolu Agency, Wednesday (31/3/2021).

The bureau accuses Israel of exploiting the classification of the occupied West Bank into Areas A, B and C under the Oslo Accords. “The Israeli army exploits about 76% of the land in Area C,” he said.

According to the bureau statement, there are now 688,000 Israeli settlers living in the occupied West Bank, 46% of whom live in East Jerusalem.
