The option will be added to the Create a Sim environment of the game. In that environment, players can completely compose their Sim, from skin color to hair style, height and clothing, for example. In addition to their Sim’s sexual orientation, players will soon be able to indicate whether their Sim is open to romantic contact and intercourse.

Creating a non-binary Sim, a character that feels neither male nor female, is not yet possible. According to the creator of the game, this is due to technical limitations.

Whether that option will ever come is not clear. “There’s still a lot of work to be done and while I’m not exactly sure where we’re going, we want to continue to improve our representation of the LGBTQIA+ community,” writes SimGuruJessica, a design lead at The Simsin the article.

Adjusting Sims pronouns is already possible
In The Sims 4 it was already possible for Sims of the same sex to start a romantic relationship with each other. From now on, a Sim with a certain sexual orientation will refuse romantic interactions with Sims who don’t meet the settings.

The fourth part of The Sims is now almost eight years old, but is still played a lot and regularly provided with new updates. For example, it has recently become possible to adjust the pronouns of Sims. This option is only available in English.
