Smoking causes lung infections with many diseases, including pulmonary embolism, due to the accumulation of mucus on the lungs, which contributes to the capture of disease-causing microbes, as well as the feeling of heaviness in the smoker’s chest, so doctors recommend some techniques you can do at home to clean the lung and improve breathing.
1- steam
The vapor has therapeutic properties that clean the airways, improving the smoker’s breathing process, as smoking causes dryness of the mucous membranes of the airways, which leads to a lack of blood flow to the lungs and causes disease.
2- green tea
Green tea is one of the healthful drinks used in alternative medicine, as it contains antioxidants, which reduce inflammation of the lungs, as well as the richness of green tea in compounds that protect lung tissue from the harmful effects of smoke inhalation.
3- Antioxidant foods
Eat some foods, especially those that contain antioxidants. It is found in leafy vegetables, olives, fruits like cherries, nuts like walnuts, and grains like beans and lentils. These foods protect the lungs from mucus buildup and relieve symptoms during an infection.
4- Exercise
Smokers are more likely to develop asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. Therefore, doctors advise the need for exercise, including breathing exercises. Which helps stimulate blood circulation in the body and strengthen the chest muscles. This makes the chest more efficient at producing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide, thus making it easier to cleanse the lungs.
5- cough
Coughing helps expel toxins from the lungs, because it controls the mucus accumulated on the lungs and sends it to the airways. It is considered one of the important exercises that doctors recommend to clear mucus and clean the lungs of smokers, especially for those suffering from obstructive pulmonary disease.
