/ world today news/ The elevator and the requiem of liberal economic science: financial gains and human losses
Today, during the funeral of my dear Tsvetelina, (wife of a wonderful friend of mine), who died in an elevator, an elevator operating under the conditions of a free market economy, heavy and dark thoughts came upon me.
Liberal economic science has achieved complete triumph in the Bulgarian elevator business. There is no doubt that the first condition for a free market is there, namely – a free choice of elevators produced by an unlimited number of manufacturers operating all over the world! Wonderful – we already have over 120,000 elevators from that time and more recently! The second condition is also a fact – complete market freedom of maintenance companies, supervisory companies, repair companies! Gone is the one “totalitarian” company of the communists that imposes non-market solutions. Heaven has already arrived!
And since the goal of every private company (legally established) is profit, it starts to make profit.
How is this done in the “maintenance” of the elevators?
Very simple.
First, by reducing material costs – from 4 to 2 ropes.
Second, by making “replacements” of a broken part with an old one from a stopped elevator.
Third, by appointing “maintenance” employees, inspection inspectors and repair workers at the lowest possible “labor” prices, even if they do not have specialized training. The important thing is to reduce the cost of human labor per unit of input, of course.
Fourth, a share of the profits of such companies, however, goes to the “Special” Fund for expensively paid lawyers and even more expensively paid prosecutors and judges, if, God forbid, some kind of prosecution starts.
The special fund is smaller than if it were necessary to organize the purchase of quality materials and excellent remuneration of workers and employees – specialists.
If you think this only applies to elevators, think again. The supervision and maintenance of the Asparuhovo district, the dams around Mizia, the KTB, the “health”, “education” or “transportation” systems? Not to mention the famous “judicial” system. All – famous for their financial gains and human losses.
Simple “free” capitalism, nothing more!
