“Opportunity Passport Works” – Lrytas.tv The prime minister says in a press release.
According to I. Šimonytė, at present, considering the current epidemiological situation, there are no ideas to abandon the passport, which has received a lot of criticism, in general. According to the Prime Minister, the fact that the opportunity passport works is best shown by the number of occupied beds in the combat departments of hospitals. And in this regard, the prime minister noted, the situation is better than it was a year ago.
“There is really no basis for that at the moment, it will all depend on the epidemiological situation. The number of cases is high. If we compare the number of cases now and a year ago, which was around the beginning of December, then by busy beds we are well below. And this is proof that the vaccine makes up exactly that margin. It will all depend on how the epidemiological situation continues, “said the Prime Minister.
She also assured that the government really has no plans to return to the strict quarantine regime already in place.
“It simply came to our notice then lokdaunas. Only so much that it applies to a part of people, ”said I. Šimonytė.
I. Šimonytė did not specifically answer the question whether in the future, in case of specific epidemiological conditions, the Government would decide to introduce strict quarantine for all.
“I do not want to speculate on any numbers and I will not speculate. The main criterion, which is objective, is the employment of hospitals, ”the Prime Minister noted.
Explained why the NVSC still does not have a manager: public authorities cannot offer a competitive salary
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė states that the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) still does not have a manager because the public sector cannot offer a competitive salary compared to the private sector. The head of the government points out that several competitions for the position of the director of the NVSC have already been held, but, according to her, they have all ended unsuccessfully.
“The first systemic problem is that we cannot offer even a semi-competitive salary to the heads of public institutions compared to the private sector,” lrytas.tv I. Šimonytė stated in the show.
„<...> it is not very easy to attract talented people who want to take responsibility for such a position, ”she emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister, several competitions have already been announced for the vacant position of the head of the NVSC. However, according to the head of government, they were unsuccessful – the new head could not be found.
I. Šimonytė emphasizes that the NVSC does not plan pandemic management, but according to her, if the center has a factor manager, the result of pandemic management could possibly be better.
“The center is, it is not strategic, it administers it in principle and it carries out epidemiological control. But it is obvious that if the manager managed to have the factors and the ideas, then the result might be better, ”she admitted.
The Prime Minister also believes that the Government should review the functions of some institutions and consider the possibility of merging them.
“Perhaps, however, we need to get to the point that the government has not been able to reach – we need to review certain institutions, consider merging them, as well as pay the work of the administrative management of the civil service, on which the quality of work depends. The government is determined to offer the Seimas to consider this, “said I. Šimonytė.
ELTA recalls that at the beginning of this year, 804 unrecorded deaths were found during the digitization of NVSC activities, therefore Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkys asked NVSC head Roberta Petraitis to provide written answers to certain questions. After receiving explanations from the head of the NVSC, A. Dulkys instructed the SAM experts to evaluate the answers and submit proposals.
After receiving the expert assessment, the Minister of Health offered R. Petraitis to resign from his current position voluntarily, but the head of the NVSC did not agree. The Ministry of Health, having assessed the situation, decided to initiate an investigation into the possible violation of official duties by the head of the NVSC R. Petraitis.
Finally, it was decided to dismiss the head of the NVSC R. Petrauskas.
