CDU Bundestag candidate Yannick Bury and Bundestag member Peter Weiß visited the facility together with Mayor Stephan Schonefeld to find out about the construction of the rapid test center and its first operation at the weekend. Helma Wehrle from the local DRK association Simonswald explained the procedure from registration, including fever measurement, to testing, through to the waiting area and communicating the results face-to-face. “Our first operation on Friday with schoolchildren and their parents went smoothly,” reported Wehrle. “We are a little proud of what we have achieved in such a short time.” During operations (Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.), a maximum of five Red Cross helpers are on duty, including them entirely on a voluntary basis is done.
Local companies can receive a test on site by arrangement. To advertise this, Mayor Schonefeld wrote to all Simonswald’s businesses. Bundestag member Peter Weiß praised the exemplary quick action of the municipality. “Although the assumption of costs has not been clarified, many municipalities have set up test centers,” said Weiß. “In order to prevent a possible third wave, these institutions can play a crucial role.” According to CDU Bundestag candidate Yannick Bury, a big thank you goes to the communities as well as the numerous volunteers of the Red Cross. Without them, the test centers would not be able to operate.
