Twenty-six-year-old Davidová did not take advantage of the absence of the Swede Elvira Öbergová, the Norwegian Marte Olsbuová Röiselandová or the German Denise Herrmannová-Wicková.
The first shooting, in which the Czech representative missed the target three times, gave a lot of indication of how the Sunday race will develop for Davidova.
Even Jessica Jislová did not avoid one mistake, both Czechs were ranked in the top ten, relatively far behind the Italian Vittozziova.
The second item went better for both Czech competitors, but Davidová did not forgive herself for one hesitation again.
On the other hand, the third shooting stop was flawless for both Jislová and Davidová, which meant that the former moved to fourteenth place, Davidová was ten places lower.
In the lead, Simonová from France and Italian Vittozziová were fighting for the first place. Both teams made mistakes and Simonová was better by three seconds in the intermediate time.
After the final shooting, the drama was even greater when three female biathletes left the shooting range within one and a half seconds. Simonová’s compatriot Anäis Chevalierová-Bouchetová joined the aforementioned pair.
The Czechs were again successful in shooting and they were fighting on the edge of the top fifteen. However, they did not keep their places in the final run, Davidová finished the race in seventeenth place, Jislová was right behind her.
“Today it wasn’t the fault of the position. When I started shooting, there was no wind, but after the first shot it started to blow and I didn’t react to it. It was a group in one hole, but in the wrong place,” Davidová told Czech Television.
In the end, Simonová claimed the first place in her collection, behind whom Vittozziová was two and a half seconds behind, third place belongs to Chevalierová-Bouchetová.
