A remarkable deal was completed in the Czech real estate market in recent days. Lexxus Norton real estate agency has changed its ownership structure. The company was controlled by its previous shareholder Simona Otavová, who until now held 35 percent.
For an unspecified amount, Otavová has now bought the remaining part of the company, which has been operating on the Prague real estate market for thirty years, from the current owner, Edward Hughes.
And it significantly strengthened its shareholder structure – it invited a group of investors led by a billionaire to the transaction Ján Moderco-owner of the industrial group Moravia Steel and one of the richest Slovaks.
Entrepreneur and investor Simona Otavová, who has been on our list of the Most Influential Women in the Czech Republic for many years, has been working at Lexxus Norton since 2021. Now she has decided to rebuild the company.
“I was looking for a long-term strategy for the company that would allow it to develop commercially, not only in Prague, but also in other regions. The possibility to synergistically use all the real estate services that this holding has at its disposal brings the company a competitive advantage and strengthens its position on the market,” Simona Otavová, who now also serves as chairman of the board of directors at Lexxus Norton, commented on the transaction for Forbes.
She increased her stake in the group to fifty percent, and as we have already mentioned, for the remaining fifty percent she brought new partners into the company – the real estate investment group BO holding as, which is backed by its four founders and, recently, also by financial investor Ján Moder, co-owner of one of the largest Czech industrial groups Moravia Steel and at the same time the president of the hockey club HC Oceláři Třinec.
“The real estate group BO holding operates through forty branches and more than 220 real estate specialists throughout Moravia and in the Czech Republic and is led by four partners with extensive experience in real estate, finance, development and investing,” explains Otavová about the new colleagues.
“The position of managing partner of the company will be held by Jan Mynář, one of the partners of BO holding. He has been active in the investment environment for a long time, has experience in managing multinational companies as well as in his own business, and also worked as a partner in the private equity fund BHM Group for ten years,” adds Otavová.
The current owner of Lexxus is leaving the company completely, but parting ways with Otava is, according to him, completely amicable.
“It has been my pleasure to lead Lexxus Norton for more than thirty years, during which it has become a leading real estate agency in Prague with an excellent reputation. I am very pleased to be able to leave it in good hands and continue to enjoy its success,” commented Ed Hughes, former owner of the company, on the transaction.
You know the life and business story of Simona Otavová, which resembles a dramatic family saga, from Forbes. When the billionaire Petr Otava Sr. died suddenly nine years ago, his daughter Simona, then the financial director of his Metalimex, suddenly found herself completely alone after an unexpected split in the family – and at the beginning.
Some time ago, she openly described her painful breakup with her family and family business to Forbes. Today, he is building his own, already billion-dollar empire in the field of real estate and development.
Of course, she also has a number of other activities, with her husband Martin, this mother of three is, among other things, an important collector of Czech modern art.
