This year, Šimon Nemec became the highest drafted Slovak defenseman in history. The representatives of the New Jersey Devils chose him from the second place. But in recent days there have been speculations overseas that the Slovak hockey player could be part of a big exchange this summer.

It has been talked about for a long time that one of the best players of last season – Matthew Tkachuk – is on his way out of the Calgary Flames. The native of Arizona set a new career high last year when he collected a total of 104 points in 82 games in the regular season.

But after the season, Matthew Tkachuk announced to Calgary management that he does not plan to extend his contract with the team and would prefer to leave the club. Due to the fact that he is a restricted free agent, his departure from the club may not be definitively sealed yet, but even according to behind-the-scenes information, it is more than likely that the “flames” will try to replace him.

One of the main interested parties for Tkachuk’s services is the New Jersey Devils. The “Devils” allegedly tried it before the draft itself, when Calgary offered the second pick in the 1st round of the draft in exchange for Matthew Tkachuk. The Flames did not reflect on this offer at the time.

Page FANSIDED.com but she recently came up with an interesting speculation. According to an overseas portal, the Devils could offer the Flames two young hockey players in exchange for Matthew Tkachuk – Simon the German a Alexandra Holtz.

Alexander Holtz is a Swedish forward who was drafted by the “Devils” in 2020 from seventh overall. So far, he has played only 9 games in the NHL, in which he scored two assists. He, together with Šimon Nemec, could represent a good reason for Calgary to think about this potential exchange.

But again, it is necessary to emphasize that for now this is only speculation. At the same time, overseas experts agree that it is unlikely that the New Jersey Devils would get rid of the player they drafted from the second place after just a few days. On the other hand, the prospect of a striker who is capable of producing more than 100 Canadian points per season is a big attraction for the “Devils”.
