Simon Communities urge for more tenant options in light of the end of eviction ban.

Homeless charity Simon Communities of Ireland has criticised moves by the Irish government to lift an eviction ban. The charity released a quarterly report detailing only 29 rentals as available within the Housing Assistance Payment scheme in March, meaning Ireland’s private rental market is no longer a viable option for those being supported away from homelessness. Speaking on radio, the charity’s executive director, Wayne Stanley, criticised the government’s argument for the repeal claiming it did “not hold water”. The charity’s report also found no properties available at a standard Hap rate across four household types.
