Latvian pianist Vestards Šimkus, visiting STV first! on the channel show “When they meet”, told about how he fell in love with his wife, opera singer Elīna Šimkus.
Šimkus reveals about his acquaintance with his wife that it was a “click at first glance”.
The two met in 2008, when during the rehearsal of the concert, the pianist noticed Elīna in the hall and was unable to turn her eyes away. Later, the two got acquainted and only after several years, when Elīna returned to Latvia, the two met and became engaged and married a year later.
“Elina had a very special place in my heart, apparently from the first moment,” Vestards says.
He points out that “click” and love are not the same thing, so a successful relationship requires getting to know each other. The pianist also reveals that he does not believe in distance relationships.
Vestards Šimkus is a Latvian pianist and composer. As a pianist, he has won prizes in several international music competitions. He has composed film music, which has twice been awarded the Great Kristaps Award for Best Composer.
Vestards and Elīna got married in 2012.
