Bluebird adds to its fleet of new battery electric vehicles (BEV), the BYD T3. This is the first electric MPV to be used as a taxi in Indonesia.
The BYD T3 has already been used in India and Singapore. Bluebird has ordered 50 units targeted until the end of 2022. The cost of buying an electric car is more expensive than a conventional car.
“Approximately (total investment) the price of Rp 650 million just multiplied by 50 (units), multiplied by 30 percent of the funds we use. The rest will use bank loans,” said Bluebird Deputy President Director Adrianto Djokosoetono.

Bluebird said this electric MPV is currently the most suitable to accommodate taxi needs. The BYD T3 has specifications with a battery capacity of 50.3 kWh that can spit out 120 hp. The reason Blue Bird chose this model is also because of its travel power which reaches 300 kilometers with energy consumption of 26 kWh/100 km.
To fully charge the battery in 1.3 hours, it can use 40 kW of DC power, while the 6.6 kW AC charger can fully charge the battery in 7.6 hours.
The shape of the BYD T3 is designed with the concept of a sliding door car, in contrast to the BYD E6 that Bluebird used before with a hatchback style.
The T3 was originally introduced for blind vans only. But over time, the BYD T3 was born for a passenger car with a capacity of seven passengers, including the driver. The second row bench uses a separate single seat model, so it can only accommodate two people in the middle row. But the third row uses row seats that can fit three people.

From the outside, the BYD T3 looks similar to the Nissan Evalia MPV. It turns out that this car also uses the same platform. However, got a fascia with a different style for visual differentiation, as quoted by Motorids.
Features on offer include keyless entry, push-button start, a music system with Bluetooth connectivity and a reverse parking camera and sensor. The vehicle is also equipped with an automatic transmission. Safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electric Parking System (EPB), Brake Override System (BOS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) are part of the package.
