Simijane Yeiwie: New Caledonian Boxer Ready for Pacific Games Challenge

Simijane Yeiwie, 21, is one of the New Caledonian boxers selected for the Pacific Games. He was able to rehearse his ranges with more experienced opponents at the beginning of October, at Creps de Nancy, with the French junior hopefuls team. He came out super motivated.

A few days before the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands, our boxers are in the starting blocks. They prepared at the beginning of October, for a fortnight, at Creps (Cbetween expertise and sports performance resources de Nancy), taking advantage of an internship with the French junior hopefuls team. The opportunity to get into the ring and assess their level. Five boxers aged 20 to 28, four boys and one girl, trained diligently, supervised by two coaches. Among them, the young Simijane Yeiwie.

“At Creps, it’s a high level. We were able to train with the French team, review our faults with more experienced opponents. We were really well coached, especially with regard to the mental aspect. C It was really enriching with the boxers from the French team and we were able to rub shoulders with boxers who weren’t necessarily very friendly, but I mainly remember the positives. I know what I need to work on a little plus: physical condition, technical aspects that I still need to acquire. We were able to get inspired, watch, learn, understand certain things that are perhaps missing here.”

We are ready to take on the challenge, regardless of the difficulty we will encounter or the track record of certain opponents. We leave here with our luggage. We are warriors of the Pacific.

Despite his lack of high-level experience, Simijane Yeiwie is aware of what awaits him in the Solomon Islands.

“I will face several boxers in my category, 60 kg, from different Pacific islands, the Papuans, and especially the Tahitians who are renowned for being good boxers, very technical. We are ready to take on the challenge, no matter the difficulty we will encounter or the track record of certain adversaries, we know that we leave here with our baggage. We are warriors of the Pacific. We have our own way of thinking, our own way of living, our own conception of things, of courage, and that encourages us to take up the challenge at the Pacific Games.”

200% motivated, Simijane intends to win a medal, and if possible gold.
