The outstanding national actress, Silvia Novak, was awarded Best Actress at the London Independent Film Festival “Best Film Awards” for her role in the film “The Pelican” by Gustavo Letelier. The film portrays the consequences of the bad behavior of a woman in her sixties in her unbridled obsession with feeling young and attractive.
This afternoon in Live Scene, the actress commented on her excitement at receiving this distinction. “It was very surprising, and very strange too, because if we weren’t kidnapped by this virus, we would be with Gustavo in London receiving the award and it would be wonderful. But seeing Chilean cinema outside is very important, “he says.
What it was like to tackle this challenge, Silvia shares. “Taking a classic of universal dramaturgy is a challenge, Gustavo called me and said ‘I have a role that has nothing to do with you’, what better gift for an actress, a woman who becomes obsessed with herself and ends up destroying her family regardless of the damage, ”he says.
On the difficult moment that the world of the performing arts is suffering, the actress comments. “You have to pedal, there are days when you get down, the uncertainty catches you and you tell yourself now, and you leave that dark space and switch to the bright side and dedicate yourself to recording, to rehearsing. I’ve met a lot of people doing these projects, working for zoom, in short, keep doing your job, ”he says.
At the end of the actress, she reflects on these moments of uncertainty. “We cannot allow ourselves to fall into deep depression, we must continue, we have no choice, this pandemic changed us all and we are more damaged. We will have to do an act of collective healing ”, he jokes.
Due to this performance, Silvia Novak already won an award for Best Actress last year at the Moving Film Festival, an Independent Film event held in Iran.
