Today, 24 songs were announced, which will be candidates for Latvia’s representation at the next Eurovision Song Contest. Among them is the song “Finally Happy”, which will be performed by Krišjānis Suntažs, the U20 European Championship silver medalist in the javelin throw. In the music world he is known by his stage name SAULE.
Suntaž became the European runner-up in javelin throw in 2019 in Sweden, when he threw the javelin 79.23 meters away.
In 2021, the athlete underwent shoulder surgery. Suntaž plans to return to the competitive circuit this season.
Last year, the 22-year-old javelin thrower was included in the bronze team of the Latvian Olympic team.
“The idea to start with “Supernova” was spontaneous: it came about two months before the deadline for sending songs. My song is about overcoming adversity and finally reaching a state of openness to new experiences and love. But you can hear the fatigue in the tone of the song, which shows that the road to this state was difficult”, Suntaž himself tells about his song to the Jelgava municipal institution “Sporta servis centrs”.
The semi-finals of “Supernova” will take place on February 4th. Live broadcast LTV1.
