Anna Normann came to Tokyo with medal hopes. But after breaking the world record in the qualifiers on Friday, the margins were not on the 37-year-old’s side when the final was to be decided and Normann then finished fifth.
In today’s final, things went all the better. One by one, the others were eliminated while the Swede found the flow. Slovakian Veronika Vadovicova was the strongest and won 0.4 points ahead of Normann.
– Fy how nice. It was just amazing and I’m so proud. I have been so tired, the world record took the must out of me. I just felt that it was just in and do my best, says Anna Norman to SVT Sport.
– I have not fired a bad shot today. And when I knew it would be a medal, I became even sharper. Unfortunately, Veronika was just a little too good.
How do you rate this?
– This is the biggest thing I’ve done.
Federation captain Pernilla Svensson had a hard time keeping her tears away.
– The tears have flowed a lot. I really treat Anna to this. The best ending we could get, she says.
The Spaniard Juan Antonio Espsaavedra Reinaldo won the bronze.
