It’s an understatement to say that we were eagerly awaiting news of season 2 of SiloThe series, broadcast in spring 2023 on Apple TV+, had amazed us: probably one of the best dystopias seen on screen for a while, it had established itself among the best science fiction series of the year, neck and neck with The Last of Us.
The series takes us to a planet with unbreathable air, in the aftermath of an apocalypse, perhaps nuclear. The viewer will not know anything about it, because no trace of the previous history has officially remained.
Humanity, or what’s left of it, now lives in a huge underground silo where an apparent harmony reigns. Apparent only, because in reality – as the chief mechanic of this last refuge will gradually discover, while investigating alongside the sheriff the mysterious death of her lover – the inhabitants of the silo are subject to a dictatorship that does not say its name, silent and almost impalpable, whose goal seems to be to hide at all costs fundamental information about their common past – and therefore about their future.
After a final episode with an open ending – and very ambiguous, depending on how you read it – the sequel to Siloseries inspired by the eponymous literary saga and expression of a rather rare genre, the SF thriller, seemed lost in limbo due to the great strike of Hollywood screenwriters and actors last year. Radio silence: impossible for fans to know whether or not their prayers to finally know the sequel would be answered.
And then, miraculously, this summer, on July 27 to be precise, during Comic-Con 2024 in San Diego, the news broke and it was doubly good: Silo would have a season 2, and it would arrive very soon. To say that the announcement of this early release excited us would be a gross understatement.
The release date of Silo saison 2
It was feared that after the SAG-AFTRA strike, as rumored, the series would remain on the shelf until at least 2025. But not at all, season 2 will indeed debut on Apple TV+ worldwide on November 15, 2024, with ten episodes scheduled to air at a rate of one per week every Friday until January 15.
What can we expect in season 2 of Silo ?
At the big Californian gathering, we were not only treated to the news, but also to a press conference attended by, in addition to the producers of the series, its heroine, the brilliant Rebecca Ferguson, and its villain, Common, as well as Graham Yost (creator and showrunner of the series) and a newcomer to the universe, Steve Zahn. Of course, there has been a lot of talk about the future of the series, for which – yay! – two more seasons are planned.
