Silent protest among Twitter staff forces Musk to tone down | Technician

The ban on working from home and the requirement to work “long, high-intensity days” did not please Twitter employees. Many of the remaining employees say they plan to leave. Their new boss Elon Musk then significantly moderated his tone, the news agency reports Bloomberg.

Musk had previously clarified that remote work not anymore would be allowed. According to him, the staff had to be in the office for at least forty hours a week.

An ultimatum followed this week. The staff of the social media company had to sign a document with which he promised extremely difficult to work. If they refuse, they will lose their jobs. The email had only one possible answer: yes.

That button was pressed by too few Twitter employees, insiders now say Bloomberg. Musk and his lieutenants would then take on a softer tone.

Working from home is allowed, it seems now. So your manager needs to “take responsibility and make sure you make an outstanding contribution to the company,” Musk writes in a new email. However, Twitter employees must be physically present for a meeting with their colleagues at least once a month.

Incidentally, Musk still appears to have little faith in Twitter staff. In a subsequent email, the billionaire says managers who “falsely claim that a subordinate is doing a great job or that a certain position is essential” will be fired.

Twitter’s offices will be closed for the rest of the week and won’t reopen until Monday BBC news. The British broadcaster relies on a message sent by the company to employees. Twitter does not give a reason for the closure and the company does not want to answer questions from the British broadcaster.

In the three weeks that Musk has been in charge of Twitter, he already has half the staff fired. His approach and his statements also made him unpopular with most of the remaining employees.
