It was after Thursday’s Allsvenskan match between Kalmar FF and AIK the tragic news came. Three young AIK supporters had died in a car accident outside Lindshammar in Småland, on their way to Kalmar to see the Allsvenskan meeting.
A total of five people were involved in the accident. Two of them, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, died on Thursday night from their injuries. On Friday morning, AIK announced that another person involved in the accident had died.
Now the interest organization Swedish Elite Football, Sef, announces that a minute of silence will be held before all matches in the coming round of the Allsvenskan and the Superettan.
“The whole football family mourns, our thoughts go mainly to the families and friends of the victims,” Sef writes in the statement.
The minute of silence applies in connection with the matches in the Allsvenskan round 21 and the Superettan round 22.
