In fact, it was only a matter of time before mods for Silent Hill 2 finally appeared, and the first of these was one that completely removed the smoke from the town. Although it is obvious that much of the atmosphere has been lost, it also highlights the graphical effort that has been made in this remake. Another mod recreates an in-game logo that used the Comic Sans font from the 2012 HD Collection (Silent Hill 2 and 3).
In fact, the game looks very impressive without fog. So it might be a good idea to get to know it first, and then come back for a smoke-free second round.
