Silence about film is inspired by Cezinando

Late Sunday night, the Norwegian film “Sick Girl” had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. To long, standing ovations after the film. Outside the festival palace, there was a good atmosphere after the premiere. Director Kristoffer Borgli and lead actress Kristine Kujath Thorp were both overwhelmed and relieved.

– I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. I’ve seen the film myself far too many times. Lovely to finally share it with an audience.

He was extra pleased to see the film in Cannes, which for him is the most rewarding place to show the film.

Kristine Kujath Thorp plays Signe, a young woman with an extreme need for attention. And goes far, very far, to get attention. Borgli is impressed with the film’s main character.

– Absolutely fantastic, I do not understand how she does it. Amazing. I’m completely stunned.

Receives praise from reviewers

Kujath Thorp is specifically mentioned in several of the reviews that came right after the film was shown. For her, too, the premiere was a strong experience.

– Absolutely insanely sick. Several times I forgot a little where we were. My God, we kind of sit in Cannes and show our film. It was big and really fun, and very nerve-wracking, she says.

“Sick Girl” is the only all-Norwegian premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Director Kristoffer Borgli is from Sarpsborg, lives in Los Angeles and has long been interested in what we can call body horror. It seems in the movie.

– I look special in large parts of the film. Without revealing too much. People get to go and see it.

Borgli says the story is inspired by reality, but turned up far beyond what one is used to watching on film.

– It is built on real trends I have seen.

He has no explanation for his fascination with body horror.

– But I can not help it. I think it has something to do with the fact that I like discomfort on film.

Stolen design furniture

In the film, the main character’s girlfriend is the artist and in the art, stolen design chairs are central, a story similar to the case against the Norwegian artist Cezinando. He was recently sentenced to community service for having been involved in burglary, where the stolen goods were precisely design chairs.

The film was both written and recorded before it was publicly known that the Norwegian artist was a suspect in the case. Sources tell TV 2 that in certain environments in Oslo this was known at an earlier time.

– No comment, says Borgli when asked about this.

– Not inspired by a Norwegian artist?
