In February of this year, Radosław Sikorski corrected Russian lies in a captivating style at the UN. Now, during the Security Council meeting, he raised another topic to once again expose the lies and hypocrisy of the Russian Federation authorities.
Radosław Sikorski praised after his speech before the UN
— Ambassador Nebenzia and Russian propagandists like to call the democratically elected government of Ukraine Nazis. It so happens that in Poland I live three kilometers from Potulice, the site of a former Nazi filtration camp from World War II — Sikorski began his speech.
“It is known that thousands of children from Poland and the Soviet Union, from the areas around Smolensk and Vitebsk, were imprisoned there. Up to 800 of these children died, but thousands were taken west to become Germanized, blond, blue-eyed, Aryan children deemed racially appropriate,” he explained to diplomats from around the world.
Then he turned to the Russian ambassador and his superiors. “How is what you are doing to the kidnapped Ukrainian children any different from what the German Nazis did to your children and ours?” he asked. At the same time, he emphasized that under international law, kidnapping and indoctrinating children is considered genocide.
Sikorski hit a sensitive spot and reminded that the permanent members of the UN Security Council were supposed to be guardians of peace, and not “wage war using other people’s children”. “This is a disgrace to Russia, which will never be forgiven or forgotten,” he thundered. He also corrected the lies Vasily Nebenzia had previously uttered about the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The lecturer assesses Sikorski’s level of English
The recording of Sikorski’s speech quickly spread across social media. He was praised not only for his important message, but also for his fluent English. “Fakt” decided to ask a specialist about this issue. He turned to Jolanta Grochala, an experienced English teacher and president of the Bilingual Poland association, for help.
– Mr. Sikorski speaks very fluently. It is an academic language, at least at the C1 level – Grochala assessed, giving the politician a high mark. – You can hear that he was abroad and was surrounded there by the language in academic, political and military topics – she added.
According to Grochala, Sikorski, as a public figure, is one of the best speakers in English. In her opinion, to reach such a level in Poland, one must have an environment that speaks the language fluently.
The lecturer noted that Sikorski’s good pronunciation was due to years spent abroad, combined with foreign education and work among English-speaking specialists. – The fact that the politician’s wife is an American, Anne Applebaum, has no less influence – she added.
