The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) revealed that the 12th edition of the SIKKA Arts and Design Festival will start on the 23rd of this month and continue until the 3rd of next March, with the participation of more than 500 creative people.

Through the festival, which is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Culture and member of the Dubai Council, the Authority seeks to provide an innovative platform that brings together various types of arts and celebrates talents and young artists from the Emirates and the Gulf, in order to achieve the goals of the Dubai Cultural Vision. It aims to consolidate the emirate’s position as a global center for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a forum for talent.

This year’s edition of the festival, which will be organized in the historic Shindagha neighbourhood, will feature a program full of events aimed at highlighting the richness of the local art scene, as it will display more than 100 works with the imprints of Emirati, Gulf and resident artists, and will be distributed among 13 houses, each of which presents different types of arts. And distinctive installation works, digital ones, sculptures, and various interactive spaces inspired by the festival’s slogan, “Art starts from a new direction.”

The current edition of the festival will witness the launch of eight murals and more than 10 outdoor installation artworks in the corridors of the Shindagha district, which is in line with the “Art in Public Places” strategy. Over the course of 10 days, the festival will present a range of performances and entertainment activities with the participation of 70 musicians.

Al Shindagha Museum, the largest heritage museum in the Emirates, will open the doors of its wings to festival visitors, giving them the opportunity to explore Dubai’s history, culture and ancient heritage.
