First, on the 8th, the Siheung City delegation visited Tsinghua University, considered one of the world’s best universities. Tsinghua University is a university with a global reputation beyond Asia in the fields of science and technology and management, and has produced a variety of talented individuals who are active in Chinese politics, business, and academia, including President Xi Jinping.
In addition, it produced a Nobel Prize winner in physics, established Tsinghua Holdings, an industry-academia cooperation organization with government investment of 200 billion yuan (approximately 34 trillion won) in the field of science and technology, and operated the Korea-China Technology Exchange in cooperation with Korea to discover cutting-edge technologies and We are taking the lead in business support.
This visit was made at the invitation of Professor Gu Chen, Director of International Affairs at Tsinghua University, and the Korean Student Association at Tsinghua University. Siheung City explored Tsinghua University’s successful industry-academia cooperation model, benchmarked the future modeling of Seoul National University’s Siheung Campus, and explored the possibility of developing industry-academia cooperation infrastructure.

Then, on the 9th, they visited the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) trade center in the center of Beijing to understand local economic information and trade trends and discuss cooperation plans for Siheung-based companies to advance overseas.

Previously, the city delegation visited Dezhou, China, on the 7th to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two cities. After completing the Beijing schedule, on the 11th, the city delegation visited the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR) Bio Center to be newly built in Siheung. We plan to visit the Shanghai branch of the Chemical Convergence Research Institute to explore ways for K-Bio products to enter the global market.
