Conductor Sigvards Kļavas celebrates his 60th birthday at work, together with the greatest achievement of his life – music. He doesn’t like to talk or give interviews about it, because music should be listened to, not spoken.
“I like to give concerts in this period, because that moment is always very dark, when the feast of the graves is over and Advent hasn’t really started yet. The soul longs for light and peace. That moment is when you want to do music. That creative spirit rejoices and yearns!” says Maple.
Before the rehearsals, the Latvijas Radio choir together with the musicians of the “Sinfonietta Rīga” dedicated a moving musical greeting to their conductor, at the end of which the choir director said: “It will be like this for all of you when you can one day tell each other and everyone else i will never be that young in life But, the main thing i want to say now for records we sit down, we take notes”.
By a nice coincidence, today the choir was preparing for the premiere of the “Jubilee Mass” at the weekend, introducing the “European Christmas” festival in Riga Cathedral.
