The creative residency program is one of the initiatives implemented by the Sigulda Region Cultural Center on the way to the status of a UNESCO city of literature. This year, the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, the Swedish city of Gothenburg and the Indonesian capital Jakarta won the title of City of Literature in a competition organized by UNESCO.

In turn, the results of the competition give Sigulda an opportunity to work purposefully and improve the initiated initiatives in order to join 42 literary cities in the world in two years.
