The story is that actress Sigourney Weaver returns in Avatar 2 as a completely different character and not as Dr. Grace Augustine. It is not yet clear which character that is. New set photos seem to reveal she will be playing a Na’vi.
The photos below featuring Weaver in action for an underwater scene appeared on the official Twitter channel of the movies from James Cameron. “From the set of the Avatar sequels: Sigourney Weaver never shies away from a stunt, even when it’s underwater!” can be read in the photos.

Not when Grace Dr. Augustine
Director Cameron previously said of the role of Weaver in 2014: “She plays a different and in many ways more challenging character in the upcoming films.” Her first character did not survive part one.
Avatar 2 is set to hit theaters in December 2022. That is striking Aquaman 2 planned. This film will undoubtedly also take place a lot underwater.
