Jakarta

Maybe you are already familiar with the term SIM card clone. However, when faced with a real situation, you may not realize it.

There are three main methods namely AMPS, CDMA and GSM cloning, but the last method is the most popular as reported by Techlicious.

Well, in the GSM cloning scheme, there are those too SIM card clone. However, this method requires direct access to the SIM card to be copied using a card reader connected to the computer. So, those who did it must have had contact with you.

One of the most frequent signs is lost signal from the cellphone you are using. Besides that, what are the signs that the SIM card has been cloned by someone else? Check below.

1. There is a message asking to restart

If you receive a message asking for the cellphone to be restarted, be vigilant because this is a sign of simcard cloning. When the HP is restarted, the bad guy can take advantage of the time to steal details while the HP is not on.

2. No incoming SMS

It’s clear that the phone number can only be used on one simcard. So, if the simcard is cloned, the next sign is the complete absence of SMS or calls.

3. There is an SMS, but…

You get an SMS from an unknown number. There is usually an international phone trail. Even worse, all calls, internet or SMS costs could be borne by the victim.

4. HP in a different location

You live in Surabaya, but when you track using the Find My Device application and the like, the device is actually found in a different city or even abroad. Especially if you find that there is more than one device registered in the application, even though you only have one cellphone.

5. Can’t use the application

There are already many two-factor authentication (TFA) to secure user accounts. This is good because it strengthens our protection. The TFA code is usually sent via SMS to ensure that the person trying to log in to the account is really the account owner.

But if your cellphone or SIM card has been cloned, hackers or irresponsible people can get the verification code. That person can use it to access your account.
