VIVA – Cholesterol High blood pressure is a dangerous condition characterized by the presence of fat molecules in the blood. Although this condition is harmless in the early stages, however high cholesterol contribute to the buildup of plaque in the arteries, thereby increasing the risk heart attack and stroke.
Fortunately, there are some signs that can serve as a reminder when a person’s cholesterol is high in the body.
High cholesterol is often referred to as the silent killer, because it can wreak havoc on the body without giving clear warning signs. However, in rare cases, high cholesterol causes dark lines under the skin nail otherwise known as splinter haemorrhages or splinter hemorrhages.
The American Academic of Dermatology Association even warns that these spots on the nails are a warning that a person is at risk for heart disease.
“When it’s a sign of heart disease, people tend to have (additional) symptoms like high fever and weak or irregular heartbeat,” they said.
