Neurology specialist at RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo Dr. Dr. Rakhmad Hidayat, Sp.S(K), MARS, said that the habit of staying up late and not exercising at all is a lifestyle factor that can increase the risk factor for stroke at a young age.
“The trend now is that many people are in their 30s because of people’s habit of staying up late, working (until) without sleeping, sometimes not exercising at all,” said Rakhmad, as reported by Antara, Monday (30/10/2023).
Rakhmad continued, stroke at a young age can also occur due to irregular eating patterns, a history of high blood pressure or hypertension, and high blood sugar levels.
Genetic or congenital factors can also trigger strokes which can occur in young and elderly people.
If both the father and mother’s family have a history of stroke and various risk factors, such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, then it is best to live a healthy lifestyle from an early age.
According to Rakhmad, a healthy lifestyle that can be adopted to reduce the risk of stroke due to heredity is avoiding smoking, maintaining blood sugar levels, and maintaining a healthy weight by controlling diet and exercising regularly.
