Federal Customs Administration
Bern, June 9th, 2021 – The Federal Customs Administration (FCA) and the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FCS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the customs area in Moscow on June 9, 2021.
Exploratory discussions between the FCA and the Russian authorities in September 2019 revealed that the two administrative units are currently facing similar challenges: on the one hand, the digitization of processes and, on the other hand, organizational reforms. The wish was also expressed to intensify contact on a professional level. The FCA and the FCS have agreed to include the deepening of the cooperation in a legally non-binding MoU.
Contents of the Memorandum of Understanding
The main objective of the MoU is to promote technical cooperation and the exchange of best practices in various areas. The MoU also offers the opportunity to optimize processes in the cross-border movement of goods with Russia. The MoU is implemented through bilateral meetings and seminars at expert level in Switzerland and Russia.
