Significant Reduction in Taxi Fares at Muscat International Airport – Prices Decreased by 45%

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport of Oman has sharply reduced the taxi fare from the international airport. The prices of online taxis allowed to operate at Muscat International Airport have been reduced by 45 percent.

The minimum fare for online taxis authorized to operate at the airport will be 1.5 riyals. 250 baisa will be charged for each subsequent kilometer travel. Earlier, the lowest rate was three riyals. 400 baisa was charged per km. According to the new rate, the average taxi fare from Muscat Airport to Ruwi will be 9.2 to 9.5 Riyals.

Cloud World Trading’s O Taxi and Uber Smart Cities Company’s Oman Taxi have been newly licensed. Both companies will provide root tracking and monitoring systems to ensure user privacy and security. There are eight online taxis in Oman, including a female taxi, but only two taxis have been approved by the authorities.

In the first phase, online taxis were allowed to operate at airports. From November 1, entry will also be provided at tourist complexes, hotels, commercial centers and ports.
