The hospitalization of babies caused by respiratory syncytial virus (VRS)which causes bronchiolitis and pneumonia, has been reduced by more than half in Castilla y León thanks to the first months of immunization among the little ones. In fact, if a year ago, community hospitals added 342 admissions from October to December, this year the figures close with 132. It is true that the evolution of respiratory diseases, with low incidences at this point, is also helping, but the main reason is that more than 90 percent of the target population, those born on or after March 1, have received their dose.
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes a common viral illness that usually causes mild symptoms similar to cold. In fact, 90 percent of minors have been infected by the time they are two years old. However, it can involve serious infections in the lower respiratory tract and lungs, specifically bronchiolitis and pneumonia, especially in babies, but also in older adults and people with chronic pathologies.

Meanwhile, the Santos Reyes Hospital, in Aranda de Duero, added four, as did the Santiago Apóstol, in Miranda .
