The balances of credit facilities granted by banks amounted to about 4.518 trillion pounds at the end of April 2023, an increase of 954.3 billion pounds during the July/April period of the fiscal year 2022/2023.
The statistical bulletin issued by the Central Bank of Egypt showed an increase in credit facilities granted to the government sector to record 1.881 trillion pounds at the end of April 2023, an increase of 219 billion pounds, compared to 1.663 trillion pounds at the end of December 2022, with an acquisition rate of 41.63% of the total facilities amounting to 4.519 trillion pounds. The family sector acquired about 17.85% of the credit facilities for the non-governmental sector, recording 805.51 billion pounds at the end of April 2023, an increase of 34.12 billion pounds, compared to 771.388 billion pounds at the end of December 2022, achieving a growth rate of 4.4%.
The industrial sector acquired 17.45% of the total credit facilities granted by banks “other than the Central Bank,” amounting to 4.518 trillion pounds by the end of April 2023, while the service sector acquired 15.88% of the total credit facilities granted by banks.
While the agricultural sector accounted for about 1.3% of the total facilities balances, rising to 58.5 billion pounds at the end of last April, and credit facilities to the external sector recorded 4.896 billion pounds at the end of April 2023.
