Manifestations of anti-Semitism in Berlin have increased significantly since the terrorist attack by the Islamist group “Hamas” against Israel, DPA reported, referring to the service that monitors anti-Semitic manifestations in Germany.

The Center for Research and Information on Antisemitism recorded 70 such incidents between October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel, and October 18, three times more than in the same period last year, when 25 were documented. the stipulation that it has received numerous other signals that are yet to be verified.

According to the data, there was one case of extremist violence, three cases of assault and threats, and nine cases of intentional damage to someone’s property. The attempted arson attack on a Jewish community center and synagogue in Berlin on Wednesday is also included in the statistics.

There were also 12 reported cases where the entrances and doors of residential buildings were painted with the Star of David. “This is reminiscent of the practice of the National Socialists, who marked Jewish shops with the Star of David,” said the Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism in Germany.

Figures released on Wednesday show that since October 7, when Hamas carried out its attack, 202 incidents have been reported across the country, a 240 percent increase over the same period last year.

The Anti-Semitism Research and Information Service is a network of reporting centers where victims and witnesses have the opportunity to report an incident of anti-Semitism. The center is funded by the federal government’s anti-Semitism commissioner Felix Klein./BTA
