Significant Discussions: Rotation of Prime Ministers and Ministerial Changes

The co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” Hristo Ivanov admitted that with the rotation of the prime ministers, there will also be a change of ministers. He was asked about the topic after during the week the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov talked about the fact that he is dissatisfied with whole sectors and many ministers do not even know their names.

“It is too early to make final assessments of the work of one or other ministers,” Ivanov said in an interview with BNR. He pointed out that neither GERB nor PP-DB have enough votes to impose their composition on the government. “Where someone is not doing their job, it will improve. But we don’t need to look for too much drama in this,” he pointed out.

The GERB leader ignited a new scandal by admitting that any minister could be replaced during the rotation in March. However, he emphasized that in the event of a vote of no confidence, GERB-SDS will support the government.

Ivanov is not worried about the vote of no confidence in the government initiated by Vazrazhdane, ITN and BSP. Voting will be on Friday, October 13.

The leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, however, warned his non-coalition partners, quoted by BGNES, that “the most important thing in politics is mathematics. Especially when you are facing a vote of no confidence, you must be able to calculate”. “When you have more than 30 deputies, you cannot tell those who have 69 that they are bragging. They can’t do it without us! And instead of us, as non-coalition partners, bragging about what we have done, we put our name and signature under the laws for energy, why wasn’t Peevski to blame then? Because he defended them like a hen – chickens. And without him I wouldn’t have made an agreement,” added Borisov during a pre-election meeting in Pleven, interfering in the conversation and the miners’ protests of recent days.

“As much as we don’t like each other, we work together and vote together. That’s why I call on the PP colleagues, regardless of the election campaign, that in a few days there will be a math class, and whoever can count, knows that they have to add 121. And if someone is thought to be great, and others follow him like chickens, that will not happen,” Borisov also said and did not fail to list how much he “built” while he was prime minister.

ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION

Hristo Ivanov commented before the BNR and the draft for changes to the Constitution, which on Friday the parliament put on the slow track. 161 deputies voted “for” and therefore the project will be considered again in December. The DB leader believes it is disingenuous to generalize that the project has been bombarded with criticism.

“The vast majority of opinions accept the goals of the reform, they may have remarks on some aspects,” he pointed out. According to him, most of the criticisms of the justice reform are not in substance, but in their constructive part are related to acceptance of the goals. “From this point of view, it is not correct to say that there is a lot of criticism,” Ivanov believes.

The draft amendments to the Constitution did not gather the necessary majority in the first reading in the parliament to move on the fast track. After a discussion that lasted all day, 161 deputies voted “for” the project.
