There could possibly be snowfall at high altitudes in Baden-Württemberg on Friday. However, the cold snap in the region will be short-lived.

Stuttgart – The temperatures seem to be going crazy: Not long ago it was Baden-Wurttemberg still midsummer, then a “significant cooling” followed, as the meteorologist Dominik Jung from Wetter.net explained. The first snow has already fallen on the Feldberg in the “Ländle”.

Meteorologist Dominik Jung announced a frosty surprise in Baden-Württemberg

The calendar autumn had not yet begun, and weather experts had already announced the first frost in the mountains. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), individual snowflakes were possible at the weekend on the Feldberg in the Black Forest at an altitude of over 1500 meters. Dominik Jung even spoke of a snowfall line “down to under 1000 meters”, but especially with regard to the Alpine foothills.

In addition to showers, there were also occasional short thunderstorms. Sunday remained largely dry in the “Ländle”. But for all those who have already started to shiver, there is now good news: the cold snap will only last a short time. This week, “it will all be water under the bridge again,” says Jung von Wetter.net.

“A touch of Indian summer” returns to the “Ländle”: Warm air from the east

This week, temperatures will climb to 20 degrees and more in some places. While Monday (September 16) could still be cool and rainy in places, it will get warmer again from Tuesday. “Warm air is coming from the east,” explains Jung. In the southwest of Germany, temperatures of 24 to 25 degrees can be expected. “It will continue to be this pleasant on Wednesday, which will be a touch of Indian summer,” says the Wetter.net-Meteorologist.

Thursday and Friday will remain mostly sunny, but according to Jung, there may be isolated rain showers at the end of next week, especially in southern Germany. The German Weather Service is expecting temperatures to rise in Baden-Württemberg over the course of the week. According to the 10-Tages-Trend The maximum temperatures in the “Ländle” are just over 20 degrees. (bme/df)
