On October 7, 2024 in Rabat, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) and Bank Al-Maghrib concluded two partnership agreements. These agreements concern respectively the exploitation of the technical functionalities of the National Electronic Identity Card (CNIE) and the security of Bank Al-Maghrib sites as well as the escort of cash convoys. These agreements are part of the consolidation of relations between the two institutions, in accordance with the laws in force, in particular Law No. 04-20 relating to the CNIE and Law No. 40-17 governing the status of Bank Al-Maghrib .
The first agreement, entitled “Memorandum of Understanding for the authorization of Bank Al-Maghrib to exploit the technical functionalities of the CNIE”, aims to strengthen identity verification mechanisms. This agreement will allow Bank Al-Maghrib to access, with the consent of users, identity data via the CNIE, whether on site or remotely, thus facilitating the simplification of procedures and the digitalization of services, while fighting against identity fraud.
The second agreement, entitled “Partnership Agreement in the field of security of sites and cash convoys”, formalizes the existing cooperation between the DGSN and Bank Al-Maghrib in the field of security. It aims to strengthen the protection of the establishment’s sites and to ensure the escort of convoys of funds and valuables. The agreement also provides for awareness-raising actions and simulation exercises to improve coordination between the two parties.
