Since WhatsApp introducing his latest, controversial privacy policy, Signal become one of the competing applications that is flooded with new users. To make it easier for users migrating from WhatsApp, Signal introduced many new features that WhatsApp previously had.
Although known as one of the most secure messaging applications, Signal is not very feature-rich when compared to WhatsApp or Telegram. But with this latest update, Signal seems to be getting serious about attracting more WhatsApp users.
The first feature that was introduced was the wallpaper for chat. Previously Signal did not have a feature that allowed users to change the wallpaper.

With this new feature, users can change the wallpaper on each chat page, use a solid color, and swipe to preview the wallpaper before selecting it. This feature looks very similar to the Advanced Wallpaper Features on WhatsApp.
Signal also added an About feature which helps users to write a status or introduce themselves briefly which can be seen in the contact info. Previously, Signal users could only set a name and profile photo.

This latest update also brings support for animated stickers and launches the first animated sticker pack named ‘Day by Day. Signal also offers the ability to create animated stickers from the Signal application for the desktop, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Saturday (23/1/2021).
There is also a low data mode for making voice calls using less data packets. Signal users can also set their preferences when downloading media, whether they want to be downloaded automatically or manually.
Signal currently has a group call feature, but it’s only limited to five participants. With this update, Signal has increased its maximum limit to eight people, just like WhatsApp.
Lastly, Signal also presents a feature that helps users to create a link containing an invitation that can be shared with Signal users to join the newly created group.
