A McDonald’s advertising poster for the McCrispy burger was recently installed next to a crematorium sign in Cornwall, UK.
The location caught the attention of people all over the world after that Cornwall Live referred to the signs.
Media all over the world have mentioned the location of the signs, which has prompted McDonalds to comment and take action.
McDonald’s quickly commented that they were going to remove the sign, which drew a lot of criticism. Others thought it was funny, and thought one should see the irony in it, writes Cornwall Live.
Signed ashore: Hiding painful history
Replaced
Last week the sign was replaced. Now motorists who have driven past on the road believe that the new sign is just as bad as the previous one.
Right next to the sign for Penmount Crematorium, in Truro, it now says “Get your locals’ pass”, or which translates to “get the locals out”.
The reason why the sign causes reactions is because the English word “pass” is often used by English speakers when someone has died.
At a bus stop opposite Penmount crematorium, on the road between Truro and Carland Cross, there are several people commenting on the sign change to the Cornwall Live journalist.
– Don’t know which is worse
– You can’t just make this up, says the person humorously to the British journalist.
Another said: – I don’t know which is worse, this one or the first one.
Others pointed out that here there is someone with a sense of humor who has been on the move.
Another joked that ad rates should go up in this particular location because of how viral the bus stop ads are getting.
When shown a photograph of the previous sign, a McDonald’s spokesperson said they were unaware of the road sign’s location.
They chose to remove the sign when complaints started pouring in, after Cornwall Live brought it to the attention of readers.
