Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan won gold in the marathon on the final day of the 2024 Paris Olympics, making up for her dispute with bronze in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races.
The Dutch set an Olympic record of 2:22.55 hours on her way to gold, just 0.03 seconds ahead of Ethiopian Tegist Assefa, and 0.15 seconds ahead of Kenyan Helen Obiri, who won bronze, while the Tokyo Olympic champion three years ago year, the other Kenyan, Beres Gebshirsher, was satisfied with the position in fifteenth place, 3:56 minutes behind Hassan.
