As early as 2020, companies in the logistics sector had created the association to work together to fight blood cancer and other diseases of the hematopoietic system. More than 50 partner companies and supporters have joined the initiative.
“Blood cancer is a serious disease and someone in this country is diagnosed approximately every 45 minutes. Donating blood can literally save lives. Raising awareness of the topic is therefore an important part of helping those affected. That’s why we joined the initiative and planned a trailer,” explains Karsten Bley, Managing Director of Sievert Logistik SE.
Lengerich’s logistics service provider is also affected by an employee’s personal case. The trailer with the “Blood Transported” tarpaulin has been on the road since October 2022.
“Our trucks are noticed hundreds of times a day. If we can reach just a fraction of the people who see the trailer and have them type or donate blood, we’ve already made a lot of money,” Bley points out.
“Blood Transported – A Logistics Initiative” was founded two years ago. Sievert Logistik SE was one of the first partners in the initiative. The purpose of the network is to make a difference as a strong association in the fight against diseases of the hematopoietic system. With regular events, the initiative ensures, among other things, the support of the bone marrow donor center (KMSZ) of the Düsseldorf University Hospital and other organisations.
Nina Konerding, project manager of the “Blut Transports” initiative says: “We want to help increase the number of potential stem cell donors. The more they are registered, the greater the chance for interested people to receive a suitable donation”.
Partner companies participating in the association are obliged to organize a good deed once a year, such as blood donations, fundraising campaigns or charity events. Form and framework are left to the respective companies. Sievert Logistik SE has decided to offer typing campaigns among employees.
Bley says, “We are proud that so many of our colleagues are supporting our campaign and allowing themselves to be typecast. As a logistics service provider, we know how important an intact supply chain is. Even in the body.
