Siemens Vectron EP Cargo derailed in Cologne, the damage is 27 million crowns

No one was injured in the accident, the causes are being investigated.

The Siemens Vectron locomotive was derailed during the shift today between the perimeter of the passenger and marshalling yard in Cologne. No one was injured in the emergency, the estimated damage is 27 million crowns.

We are currently investigating the causes of the emergency. The locomotive and infrastructure were damaged during derailment,“Said Jan Kučera, Inspector General of the Railway Inspectorate.

The damaged locomotive belongs to EP Cargo, the carrier at the time of the emergency was RM Lines. It has the same owner: Energy and Industrial Holding Daniel Křetínský.

According to Kučera, the damage to the tracks and the turnout is such that the operation on the track 8 over the said turnout is stopped until Monday. The event has no effect on passenger transport.
