Siegfrieds Muktupávels: Radio has always been more interesting to me

Siegfrieds Muktupávels: Radio has always been more interesting to me

A voice like no other. The same can be said about the humor of Siegfried Muktupável or, for example, holding talks on the radio. For all Latvia as your own. Monopoly in a conversation about music, the road, choices and values.

Should art and artists change society? Does art have to think about it?

Zifgrids Muktupávels: I don’t know if you should think, because if you work one hundred percent within art, it happens automatically, I think. In the TV program “National Treasures”, he was also “Rondo Cultar”,

Imants Lanczmanis is sitting across from me, let’s say, I don’t know, is it all the same, there were famous people and intelligent people, and I thought: are you really serious about answer my questions? To my questions?! I’m from Krimulda, a boy with a ball and a hockey stick. It’s like… I don’t know why fate has been so kind to me.

Yes, I have had the opportunity to meet and talk. I’ve always been more interested, to be honest, with the radio, because on television, I don’t know why, they asked everyone to think about the picture, how do you keep your back, Muktiņ, straight back, flip flops and all.

Now we are also filming them. Straight up!

Zifgrids Muktupávels: Well, well, the radio is like that cool! Especially since it was never filmed, you can put your feet up on the table, well stonesand speak out.

Usually, these conversations always go behind the scenes, and you always think, why didn’t I record it? But it would be very rude, however, if I spoke quietly to some reporter even after that. But as long as I still have a mind and working memory, I remember it. I will not make it public, which many have said. But it’s a great experience!

You are a Knight in the Order of the Three Stars. Are artists eligible for orders?

Zifgrids Muktupávels: Then, when the postman knocked on my door and gave me a registered letter inviting me to receive this award, I went through all my “detractors” to play this bad joke. But taking into account that I had a rather close relationship in my life with the poet Māra Zālīti and she was at that time in the chapter of the Order, that is, those people who decide who who should be granted and who should not be granted. . They don’t figure it out themselves, they just evaluate it. I took permission to call Mara. I thought we were very close acquaintances, to say the least, we were real acquaintances, and I said, “Mara, who made this claim for me?”

And then I realized for the first time in my life that Mara is so insanely honest and strict. She said, “Siegfried, I am in this situation, I will never tell you, even if I parted with my Custard. Even then I will not.” She keeps it a secret.

And a little later, talking to Mara, she said that they had talked in the chapter about the need to give state awards as much as possible to young people who are still able to do something in their lives, because it just encourages doing something, because there is such a special responsibility. And there I can agree.

I won’t say that I get out of bed every day, look in the mirror in the bathroom and say: “Good morning, Knight of the Order!” But it puts some responsibilities on the inside. Yes, it is exciting. One of the little details that motivates to do something. I think so.

The program reads:

  1. Laimas Myzikanti “Silver Sun Lions”
  2. The Doors. “Alabama Song”
  3. Don. “I’m coming home”

Latvijas Radio invites you to express your opinion about what you heard in the program and supports discussions among listeners, however, it reserves the right to delete ideas that violate the boundaries of respectful attitude and ethical behavior.
